About the Artist & Photographer:
It all started when…
West Texas mixed media artist, digital designer, and photographer Sandrena Koning's primary focus have been on abstract and surrealistic styles, but she has recently begun expanding her practice. She works with acrylic, mixed media, sculpture, digital media, and artifacts. Environmental influences, life experiences, and a fascination for science inspire her subject matter.
Sandrena was born in Anchorage, AK, and grew up in Detroit, Michigan. As a child, she was awestruck by eerily beautiful fragments of color and texture amongst the ruins of the abandoned architectural landscape. She began combining unconventional materials from an early age to create unique pigmentation and composition.
Since relocating to West Texas in 2015, she has begun regularly showing her work in regional group art exhibitions, annual group art shows, juried art exhibitions, and art fairs. She is also an active member of several regional art associations. Further her formal education, she is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Design in Digital Multimedia Design from Pennsylvania State University.
